Michael Bohn Sec. 2

엄마 말 안듣는 청개구리

In a pond there lived a Mother frog and her son. But the child frog did not listen to his mom. If she tells him to go this way he goes that way, if she tells him to study he sneaks outside and causes trouble. She tells him to listen closely to what she says, but no matter what she says he does not listen. One day, the mother frog told her son she was going out and she told him to stay at some house. The son stuck out his lips and said, "No, I'm going out to play." The she said, "fine go play in the water out front." Then the son said, "No, I want to play in the tall grass." The mom said, "so no matter what I say you just want to do the opposite." The mother let out a big sigh. The result of the son not listening was that the mom was becoming sick. The mother knowing her son would not listen asked him to bury her in the sand near the water. She really wanted to be buried on the mountain though, but she didn't think her son would listen and he would bury her in the mountain. One day the mother frog closed her eyes and the son said, "mom you can't die, I will listen from now on." After the mom died, the son decided he should listen to his mom's last wish and he buried her near the river in the sand. But if it rains the water will wash the mom's grave away so the son goes down and protects her grave but it makes him so sad that he starts to make a 'geh-gurl' 'geh-gurl' sound. And that is the reason why when it rains near rivers, the frog children go out and make a 'geh-gurl' 'geh-gurl' sound as they cry because they want to listen to their mothers.
