김서린 Section 3: Reading Project Week 2

땅 속 나라: The country under the ground

In the country under the ground, there are a lot of different kinds of people with different reasons for being there. Insect eggs, plant seeds, and frogs stay under ground during the winter. Many other things live in the country under the ground because they were dropped, such as a poet’s pen casing and a shingle piece.
The dirt of this nation hold tight onto the roots of trees and keep them up straight no matter what the weather is like above the ground. They also bring water to the plants. However, they do not know much about the unique other residence of this country. One piece of gravel thought a bug egg was a seed and didn’t know that a being couldn’t be the same as its mother.

There are also interesting characters in the land under the ground such as a ball point pen casing that was dropped by a poet.

In the spring, the weather warms and many of the residents of the country under the ground prepare to leave for the warmer seasons of the year. Seeds prepare to sprout and larvae prepare to grow into adult bugs. Grandpa Shingle reminisces about how the seeds will still have their roots in the ground and how the bugs will come back to the ground when they die.
